In a significant step toward regional connectivity and economic cooperation, the long-awaited Pakistan-Iran-Turkey train service is set to resume operations from December 31 after years of suspension.
According to official sources, the service—also known as the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) freight and passenger train—will enhance trade links between South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The initiative is part of efforts under the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to strengthen transport and logistics networks across member countries.
Officials from all three nations have confirmed that modernized rail infrastructure and upgraded border facilities are ready to ensure smoother customs procedures and faster transit times.
The resumption of the route is expected to reduce cargo transport time between Pakistan and Turkey from weeks to just days, offering a cost-effective alternative to sea routes.
