Islamabad/Dhaka: After two decades of suspension, Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to resume direct flight operations between the two countries, marking a major step toward strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing regional connectivity.
According to official sources, national carriers from both sides are finalizing schedules and routes, with initial flights expected to begin in the coming months. The move aims to boost tourism, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, which had been hampered by the lack of direct air links since the early 2000s.
Government officials from Islamabad and Dhaka expressed optimism that the restoration of flights will pave the way for broader economic cooperation and mutual understanding between the two South Asian nations.
The aviation ministries are also discussing visa facilitation measures and expanded flight frequencies, depending on passenger demand.
