Riyadh, November 5, 2025: Saudi Arabia is reportedly in advanced discussions with the United States to purchase up to 48 F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter jets, a deal that could reshape defense dynamics in the Middle East.
Sources familiar with the matter said the proposed multibillion-dollar agreement has cleared an initial hurdle at the U.S. Department of Defense but still requires White House and congressional approval before proceeding.
If finalized, the deal would mark a major milestone in U.S.-Saudi defense cooperation, as the F-35 is one of the most advanced combat aircraft in the world, currently operated by only a few select U.S. allies.
