Lahore: The Punjab government has announced a Rs. 10,000 reward for citizens who provide verified information about illegal Afghan residents living in the province. The move comes as part of a province-wide crackdown targeting undocumented foreign nationals.
According to officials, the reward will be given to anyone whose information leads to the identification or arrest of Afghan residents living without legal documents, overstaying their visas, operating businesses illegally, or using forged Pakistani identity cards.
Police authorities have instructed all stations across Punjab to maintain strict confidentiality of informants and ensure that the promised reward is paid immediately once a report is verified. The government also warned that landlords, shop owners, and property dealers who rent out property to undocumented Afghans could face legal action.
The ongoing operation has already resulted in an increase in arrests, with teams conducting checks in major cities and sensitive areas. Officials say the crackdown aims to strengthen law enforcement, regulate undocumented migration, and maintain provincial security.
The Punjab Police urged the public to cooperate by reporting any information through official helplines or local police stations.
