DUBAI — A tragic accident occurred at the Dubai Airshow when an Indian Tejas fighter jet crashed during a demonstration flight, resulting in the death of the pilot.
According to officials on the ground, the aircraft lost control mid-maneuver and plummeted to the runway area, erupting into flames moments after impact. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, but the pilot could not be saved.
The Indian Air Force confirmed the fatality and announced that a court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash. Witnesses reported that the jet appeared to dip sharply during a low-altitude turn before crashing, with no visible signs of ejection.
The crash has raised concerns regarding safety protocols during high-risk aerobatic displays at international airshows. The Tejas, a key component of India’s indigenous fighter program, was participating in the event to showcase its capabilities to the global defense market.
Authorities have cordoned off the crash site while investigations continue.
