Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the installation of colour-coded dustbins across the province to enhance waste segregation and promote cleaner cities. The initiative aims to streamline waste disposal, encourage recycling, and improve overall sanitation standards in urban as well as rural areas.
According to the directive, separate dustbins will be placed for plastic, paper, organic waste, and general trash, making it easier for citizens to dispose of garbage responsibly. Local administrations have been instructed to begin immediate implementation of the project, with monitoring teams ensuring compliance.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that a clean environment is essential for public health and that Punjab’s waste management system will be upgraded to meet modern standards. Public awareness campaigns will also be launched to educate residents on the importance of sorting waste.
