Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, who is currently in judicial custody until September 13 in a cipher case, has taken legal action against the Attock jail superintendent. Khan alleges that the superintendent failed to comply with a court order allowing him to arrange a telephonic conversation with his sons.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated in Attock prison since his arrest on August 05 following his conviction in the Toshakhana case. Last month, a special court, designated for cases registered under the Official Secrets Act, granted Khan permission to speak with his sons.
However, the PTI chief has now filed a petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against the Attock jail superintendent, claiming that jail officials denied him permission to have a telephonic conversation with his sons, citing his detention under the Secrets Act as a pretext.
Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain has issued a notice to Superintendent Attock Jail Arif Shehzad and requested a report on the implementation of the court’s order by September 15.
Imran Khan had previously approached Judge Zulqarnain through his legal representatives, Umair Niazi and Shiraz Ahmed, to request permission for communication with his sons.
