Mastung, Balochistan – At least 11 people, including prominent Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah, were injured in a powerful explosion that rocked Mastung, Balochistan, on Thursday. Initial reports suggest that the blast occurred near a vehicle, resulting in injuries to Hamdullah and several others.
Local law enforcement agencies swiftly responded to the incident, sealing off the area as they launched an investigation into the blast.
Deputy Commissioner of Mastung, Abdul Razzaq Sasoli, confirmed that three of the injured, including JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah, had been transferred to a hospital in Quetta. He reassured the public that Hamdullah’s condition is now stable, and he received initial medical care in Mastung before being moved to the provincial capital for further treatment.
Speaking to Geo News, JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri provided updates on Hamdullah’s condition, stating that while he sustained injuries, they are not critical. Ghauri added, “He hasn’t been critically injured. His bodyguards and two of Hamdullah’s party colleagues have also been injured, but their condition is stable.”
Ghauri revealed that Hamdullah was en route from Quetta to Kalat when the attack occurred, and he expressed ignorance about the nature of the explosion.
According to a health department spokesperson, all 11 injured individuals have been transported to Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital in Mastung. Unfortunately, one of them is reported to be in critical condition.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) of Mastung stated that 11 people, including Hafiz Hamdullah, were injured in the explosion. The authorities are currently working to determine the exact nature of the blast.
Condemnations have poured in from various quarters in the wake of the incident. Balochistan’s caretaker Home Minister, Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair Jamali, condemned the attack and urged relevant authorities to provide a detailed report on the blast.
Prominent political figures also expressed their outrage and sympathy. Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), condemned the blast and offered his prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. He emphasized the importance of bringing terrorists and their collaborators to justice.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani also strongly denounced the explosion and extended his wishes for the speedy recovery of Hafiz Hamdullah and the other victims. Sanjrani called for the immediate apprehension of those responsible for the Mastung blast.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori labeled the blast as a conspiracy to disrupt law and order in Pakistan, further highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
