Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and ex-prime minister Imran Khan has been formally arrested in connection with the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Pakistan Army. Imran Khan, who is already in Adiala Jail on judicial remand in two National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references, has now been implicated in the GHQ attack case.
Sources reveal that Imran Khan is accused in all cases related to the May 9, 2023, incidents. Anti-terrorism court judge Malik Ijaz Asif visited Adiala Jail to preside over the hearing concerning the GHQ gate attack case against Imran Khan. Simultaneously, another case registered at Waris Khan police station linked to the same incidents will also be heard within the confines of the jail.
Investigation officers involved in the May 9 incident cases have reportedly reached Adiala Jail to present the judge with the investigation report and discuss Imran Khan’s role in the cases.
In a parallel development, Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were indicted in the 190 million pounds case. The indictment hearing was conducted by accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir within the premises of Adiala Jail on Tuesday.
Imran Khan’s release orders in the cipher case were issued on Monday, while his legal troubles continue to mount with his involvement in various cases arising from the May 9, 2023, incidents. The developments in these cases are closely watched, given their potential impact on the political landscape in Pakistan.
