The Pakistan Hindu Council orchestrated a magnificent wedding ceremony at the Railway Ground in Karachi, where 122 couples exchanged vows and tied the knot. The event, marked by vibrant colors and cultural splendor, showcased the rich traditions of Hindu weddings.
The grand ceremony unfolded with one special couple seated on the main stage, while the remaining pairs had personalized booths to carry out the sacred rituals in accordance with Hindu customs. The atmosphere reverberated with the recital of prayers as a Hindu priest guided the couples through the auspicious proceedings. The entire event was broadcasted on screens, allowing attendees and well-wishers to witness the union of these couples.
The centerpiece of the wedding setup was the Mandap, a symbolic structure adorned with various items representing Hindu goddesses and planets, creating a sacred and divine ambiance.
Sindh caretaker minister, Syed Ahmed Shah, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and made a significant announcement. He declared that each of the 122 couples would be beneficiaries of a Rs50,000 cheque from the government’s minority marriage fund. Minister Shah underscored the government’s commitment to supporting minority communities and ensuring equal rights for all citizens.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, the Patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the successful organization of 1,500 weddings over the span of 16 years. Dr. Vankwani highlighted the council’s ongoing support for newlyweds, including provisions of household essentials, rent assistance, and aid for disabled individuals and talented students.
In an exciting revelation, Dr. Vankwani announced the launch of a matrimonial app aimed at facilitating connections within the community. Additionally, 700 scholarships for students were unveiled, reinforcing the council’s commitment to education and empowerment.
The wedding ceremony served not only as a celebration of love and commitment but also as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of diverse communities in Pakistan.
