Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan – The relentless heavy rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has resulted in devastating consequences, with 21 lives lost and 32 individuals injured, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Over the past four days, KP has been battling with landslides, roof collapses, and flash floods, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Among the deceased are 9 children and 3 women, as reported by the PDMA.
The damage assessment reveals that a total of 330 houses have been affected, out of which 53 have been completely destroyed, leaving many families homeless.
The affected areas span across several districts including Mansehra, Buner, Bannu, Waziristan, Shangla, Battagram, Mardan, Hangu, Kohat, Khyber, Dir, Mohmand, Bajaur, Chitral, Swat, Karak, Tank, Peshawar, and Charsadda.
In response to the crisis, relief efforts are in full swing. The PDMA, along with other relief agencies, is actively distributing essential supplies to those affected. Tents, blankets, kitchen sets, and other necessary relief items are being provided to help alleviate the suffering of the affected individuals.
Authorities are urging residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as the rain continues. The government assures continued support and aid to those impacted by this natural disaster.
