In a significant development in the automotive industry, it has been revealed that Changan, under its electric vehicle (EV) arm MCML, is gearing up to introduce two electric models, the Deepal S07 SUV and L07 Sedan, into the Pakistani market.
While the company has not yet issued an official confirmation, a senior executive hinted at the impending launch during discussions with local media outlets. This move aligns with Changan’s broader strategy under the Vast Ocean Plan, aimed at expanding its presence in international markets.
Changan, the parent company of MCML, has already introduced three distinct electric vehicle brands, including Avatr, Deepal, and Nevo. The joint development effort with Huawei and CATL has resulted in an EV-first platform, facilitating the recent launch of the Deepal L07 sedan and Deepal S07 SUV in Thailand, which shares similarities with the Pakistani market in terms of right-hand drive orientation.
Syed Shabbiruddin, Director of Sales and Marketing at MCML, expressed confidence in the prospects of electric vehicles in Pakistan. Citing the growing demand for cars among the Pakistani youth, he projected an additional 360,000 vehicles on the roads by 2030, indicating a promising market for EVs.
With Pakistan gradually embracing electric mobility, Changan’s foray into the market with its Deepal S07 and L07 variants is poised to make a significant impact, offering consumers innovative and eco-friendly transportation solutions. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting development.
