The Punjab government has officially declared that summer vacations for all schools across the province will begin on June 1 and conclude on August 14. This decision, announced on Friday through a notification by the provincial education department, aims to provide students with a much-needed break during the scorching summer months.
During this period, all government schools will remain closed, with classes scheduled to resume on August 15. Additionally, the government has adjusted school timings from May 18 to May 31 due to the prevailing hot weather conditions. The revised timings are set from 7 am to 11:30 am to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued an advisory warning of an impending heatwave across most parts of the country, particularly in Punjab and Sindh. High atmospheric pressure is expected to intensify the heat, with temperatures likely to soar starting from May 21. The situation is anticipated to escalate into severe heatwave conditions from May 23 to May 27.
With May and June typically being the hottest months in Pakistan, the government urges citizens to take necessary precautions to combat the extreme heat and stay hydrated. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the adverse effects of the impending heatwave and ensure the well-being of the population during the sweltering summer months.
