With Eid Al-Adha around the corner, health experts have shared crucial insights on enjoying festive meat dishes while prioritizing health.
To maintain digestive wellness during Eid celebrations, experts advise moderate meat consumption. They recommend that an average healthy adult should consume between 60 to 100 grams of meat, which typically contains 143 calories and packs 26 grams of protein, alongside essential vitamins and minerals.
“It’s important to enjoy meat in moderation,” states Dr. Sarah Khan, a nutrition specialist. “Overindulgence can lead to digestive discomforts like diarrhea and indigestion.”
For optimal health benefits, experts suggest limiting meat intake to no more than twice a week, with a maximum weekly consumption of half a kilogram. They emphasize the importance of proper meat preparation, including thorough cleaning and cooking methods that minimize oil usage. Spices such as ginger and turmeric not only enhance flavor but also offer digestive benefits.
“Balancing meat-centric meals with vegetables or pulses can provide a more balanced nutritional profile,” adds Dr. Khan. She recommends incorporating salads, fruits, and refreshing lemonade to complement meat dishes. Moreover, taking a post-meal walk can aid digestion.
As families prepare to celebrate Eid Al-Adha with traditional meat dishes, these tips aim to ensure a healthy and enjoyable festive season for all.
