Karachi, Pakistan – An Oman Airlines flight en route to Kerala, India, was forced to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Thursday. The decision was made after a passenger aboard the flight reportedly suffered a heart attack.
The pilot promptly requested and received clearance for an emergency landing, and medical personnel in Karachi swiftly transported the ailing passenger to a local hospital for urgent care. The flight had originated from Muscat, Oman.
In a related incident earlier the same day, a Turkish plane carrying Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his delegation also made an emergency landing at Karachi airport. According to Pakistani aviation authorities, this aircraft, bound for Ankara, Turkey, was running critically low on fuel. The captain reached out to Karachi Air Traffic Control for an emergency landing and refueling, which was granted. The plane touched down at 4:55 PM local time.
In a similar vein, on February 20, a Saudi airliner was diverted to Karachi after Mumbai airport in India denied it permission for a medical emergency landing.
