Pakistan’s star javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, is set to compete on Tuesday (tomorrow) at the Paris Olympic Games 2024 in the javelin throw qualification event.
“Pray for me so that I can perform better and qualify for the final,” Nadeem
Nadeem, hailed as Pakistan’s hero, will be competing in Group B alongside India’s Olympian Neeraj Chopra, who is set to defend his medal. The group also includes other top contenders such as World No. 5 Edis Matusevicius, World No. 6 Anderson Peters, and Germany’s Max Dehning, who has thrown over 90 metres this year.
The Group B action is scheduled to start at 2:50 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST), with Nadeem slated to throw fifth. To secure a place in the final round, an athlete must achieve a minimum throw of 84 metres. The top 12 athletes will advance to the medal round. If fewer than 12 athletes meet the 84-metre mark, those with the best throws will qualify.
In the Tokyo Olympics, Nadeem finished fifth with a javelin throw of 84.62 metres, while Neeraj Chopra clinched the gold medal with a throw of 87.58 metres. Nadeem also secured a silver medal at the World Athletics Championship.
“All attention is focused on tomorrow’s game. I am fully fit and focused on the game,” Nadeem said.
