Karachi, August 13, 2024 – Provincial ministers Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Saeed Ghani have announced the launch of a new free air ambulance service under the Sindh Local Government Council Association. This initiative, they stated, aligns with the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to enhance healthcare access across Sindh.
The air ambulance service, facilitated by a new agreement between the Sindh Local Council Association and ASSL Aviation, aims to address critical medical transport needs in the province. The service will initially cater to patients from Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur, providing essential medical transport to Karachi for advanced treatment.
Minister Saeed Ghani emphasized the impact of the service, noting that it will enable timely air transport for patients from these regions, overcoming the challenge of long travel times to Karachi. He reassured the public that the service would be expanded to other cities such as Hyderabad, Thar, Nawabshah, and Larkana, with plans to operate from airstrips in Badin.
Minister Syed Nasir Shah expressed enthusiasm about the launch, highlighting it as a significant achievement in fulfilling Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision. He also mentioned that the service would extend its reach to South Punjab and North Sindh, potentially saving lives through prompt medical evacuation.
Syed Kamil Haider Shah, Chairman of the Sindh Local Council Association, explained that the agreement would provide five free flights per month for the districts of Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur. He noted that this initiative would significantly improve access to medical care in these underserved regions.
Akbar Jafri, CEO of Airlift Sales and Services, confirmed that the company, already engaged in providing air ambulance services across Pakistan, would now include Sukkur, Ghotki, and Kashmore in its network, enhancing medical transport options for patients in these areas.
This new service marks a notable advancement in the healthcare infrastructure of Sindh, reflecting a commitment to improving medical access and emergency response capabilities across the province.
