In a significant step towards ensuring a smooth transition of power, a five-member cabinet for Balochistan was officially sworn in on Monday evening. The ceremony, held at an esteemed venue, marked the first phase of cabinet appointments in the region. The oath was administered by Balochistan’s Governor, Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, signifying the commencement of the cabinet’s responsibilities.
The newly appointed caretaker ministers taking their oath are Prince Ahmed Ali, Amjad Rasheed, Jan Achakzai, Captain (retd) Zubair Jamali, and the former vice-chancellor of Mir Chakar Khan Rind University, Abdul Qadir Baloch. The presence of dignitaries, including Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Ali Mardan Domki and Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, along with representatives from diverse sectors, highlighted the significance of the occasion.
Caretaker Chief Minister Domki, in his address, highlighted the importance of a peaceful and transparent electoral process. With a commitment to ensuring fairness and equity, he stressed that the primary concern of the new government is to facilitate elections that truly represent the will of the people. He emphasized that the cabinet appointments have been made with careful consideration, and the final lineup is expected to be announced in the upcoming second phase.
Caretaker CM Domki expressed that the initial cabinet formation, comprising five members, is likely to expand to around 13 members in the near future. He underlined the consultative approach adopted in selecting the new ministers, which involves discussions with political allies to ensure a collaborative decision-making process. This approach is aimed at building a cabinet that can effectively address the diverse needs and concerns of the Balochistan region.
As the first phase concludes and the second phase’s announcement is eagerly awaited, the province anticipates the continued commitment of the caretaker government towards facilitating a transparent and just electoral process.
