In a recent press conference held in Karachi, Pakistani philanthropist and social worker Muhammad Ramzan Chhipa, founder of the Chhipa Welfare Association, addressed the case of Mohammed Chhipa, a Virginia man currently on trial in the United States for allegedly providing financial support to the Islamic State group. Ramzan Chhipa clarified that, despite sharing the same surname, he has no familial or organizational ties to Mohammed Chhipa.
The Chhipa Welfare Association, established in 1987 following a tragic bombing in Karachi’s Bohri Bazaar, is renowned for its extensive humanitarian efforts, including operating one of Pakistan’s largest ambulance services. Ramzan Chhipa emphasized that his organization’s mission is solely focused on serving humanity, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.
Regarding the American woman’s claim seeking $100,000, Ramzan Chhipa stated that neither he nor his organization has any involvement in the matter. He reiterated that the Chhipa Welfare Association operates transparently and is committed to its philanthropic activities within Pakistan.
The trial of Mohammed Chhipa in Virginia has garnered international attention, but Ramzan Chhipa urges the public and media to distinguish between his humanitarian work in Pakistan and the unrelated legal proceedings in the United States.
