ISLAMABAD / RAWALPINDI, October 9, 2025 — A senior military leader, identified as a Field Marshal, warned on Thursday that any act of aggression by India would be met with a swift and decisive response, underscoring the country’s readiness to defend its sovereignty.
Speaking at a defence forum and briefing senior officers, the Field Marshal said the armed forces remain on high alert and are prepared to take proportionate action to protect territorial integrity. He stressed that Pakistan’s posture is defensive and aimed at deterring escalation, but made clear that the military would not hesitate to respond if provoked.
“The state will defend every inch of its soil. Any aggression will be met with a swift and decisive reply,” the Field Marshal said, according to officials present at the briefing.
Defence analysts said the statement appears intended to reinforce deterrence amid rising bilateral tensions in the region. Government spokespeople reiterated that while Islamabad prefers diplomatic channels and de-escalation, it will maintain robust defence preparedness to protect national security.
Foreign ministry sources said diplomatic efforts to calm tensions are continuing through established channels, and that both sides were being urged to exercise restraint to avoid unintended escalation. Domestic political leaders also urged calm, calling for measured responses and for the government to prioritise diplomacy alongside military readiness.
The development adds to a period of heightened rhetoric in the region, with observers watching closely for any shifts in military deployments or diplomatic activity in the coming days.
