Unknown individuals rammed their vehicle into the car of Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Javed on Lahore’s Canal Road. The collision, which occurred as Judge Javed was en route to the court, caused significant damage to the vehicle. Fortunately, the judge emerged unharmed from the incident.
Despite the damage to his vehicle, Judge Javed safely continued to the Anti-Terrorism Court to carry out his duties. The damaged car has since been sent for repairs, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. However, the identity and motives of those responsible remain unclear at this time.
This incident comes against the backdrop of a recent deadly attack on a judges’ convoy in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). On August 2, two policemen were martyred when a convoy of judges was attacked in Dera Ismail Khan (DIK) district’s Hathala area. The convoy, which included Additional Judge Tang Hasnain, Additional Sessions Judge South, and Senior Civil Judge Mah Jabeen, was targeted by gunfire, though the judges themselves escaped unharmed.
In the terrorist assault, Abdullah and Constable Samad Khan of the Upper Waziristan Police were martyred. Two other individuals were also injured in the incident near Bhagwal.
A heavy contingent of police responded to the scene, cordoning off the area, collecting evidence, and launching a search operation to apprehend the attackers. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
These consecutive attacks have raised concerns about the security of judicial figures, highlighting the dangers faced by those involved in the justice system, particularly in terrorism-related cases.
