Pakistani music icon Atif Aslam recently shared an intimate glimpse into the evolution of his passion for singing, revealing how his love for music began during his teenage years. The celebrated vocalist also opened up about a period when he refrained from listening to music for a long time.
In his vlog Welcome to My Borderless World, Atif recalled the pivotal moment when he first discovered his singing talent in an unexpected setting. “I realised my passion for singing when my parents moved, leaving our house empty. I went to the upper portion of the vacant house and started singing. When I hit a high note, I got scared, wondering what had just happened. I quickly closed the doors and came downstairs,” Atif shared, describing the profound moment that marked the beginning of his musical journey.
Atif kept his newfound talent to himself initially, practicing in solitude whenever he found an empty room. “I was scared but kept going back to it,” he said, reflecting on his early years. “At that time, I didn’t understand the technical and mechanical aspects of singing. Gradually, I met people who guided me, teaching me about composing songs, writing lyrics, and making videos.”
He began singing seriously at the age of 14, a passion that would eventually transform his life. “I couldn’t live without music. Life felt empty without it,” he expressed.
In a surprising revelation, Atif also shared that he had not listened to music for many years. “Interestingly, I haven’t listened to music for many years. But now, I’ve started listening to it again and I’m finding joy in it,” he confessed.
Atif Aslam’s journey from a young, uncertain singer to one of Pakistan’s most renowned vocalists serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of following one’s passion.
