Australia has introduced the Skills in Demand (SID) visa program, designed to attract skilled workers to critical industries.
This new program replaces the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa and offers updated pathways for professionals to live and work in Australia. The SID visa has three streams: the Specialist Skills Pathway, aimed at top-tier professionals; the Core Skills Pathway, targeting priority sectors; and the Essential Skills Pathway, which will focus on industry-specific agreements.
With a reduced work experience requirement of just one year and specific English language standards, the SID visa simplifies the application process for permanent residency. The program includes over 450 jobs in sectors such as healthcare, construction, and technology, with salary thresholds ranging from AUD 70,000 to AUD 135,000.
