Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243, en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Kazakhstan’s Aktau city while making an emergency landing.
The flight was rerouted due to fog in Grozny. The plane, carrying 67 people, crashed into an open field and burst into flames, with 42 feared dead.
Emergency teams extinguished the fire, and 27 survivors were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The airline confirmed the plane made the emergency landing about three kilometers from Aktau.
Investigations are ongoing into potential causes, including a technical malfunction.
