The Bangladesh cricket team is set to arrive in Lahore on August 13, four days ahead of their initial schedule, following an invitation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The team was originally slated to land in Islamabad on August 17, but the plan was adjusted due to challenging conditions in Dhaka that have affected their practice opportunities.
The PCB extended the invitation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), offering the team additional time in Pakistan to prepare for the upcoming Test series. In response, Bangladesh will spend three days practicing at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium before heading to Islamabad.
Salman Naseer, Chief Operating Officer of the PCB, expressed his satisfaction with the revised schedule, highlighting the importance of ensuring that Bangladesh has adequate preparation time. “Sports is not just about winning and losing; it’s also about friendship,” Naseer stated, emphasizing the camaraderie between the two cricket boards.
The Bangladesh team will continue their preparations in Rawalpindi, practicing at the Rawalpindi Stadium from August 18 to 20. The first Test match of the series is scheduled to commence in Rawalpindi on August 21, followed by the second Test in Karachi on August 30.
Nizamuddin Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of the BCB, expressed gratitude for the PCB’s support, noting that the additional training time in Pakistan would greatly benefit the team’s readiness for the series.
This collaboration marks another step in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to revive international cricket tours in the country, which had been paused for several years due to security concerns. The PCB’s proactive approach in rescheduling the Bangladesh team’s arrival underscores its commitment to promoting international cricket in Pakistan.
The early arrival and extended practice sessions are expected to provide the Bangladesh team with the necessary preparation as they gear up for what promises to be a challenging Test series against Pakistan.
