The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is set to introduce smartphones for women receiving cash transfers under its scheme, aiming to boost transparency and respect in payment processes.
Rubina Khalid, chairperson of BISP, met with a delegation from JazzCash on Monday to discuss the initiative. The meeting included a presentation from the JazzCash team on potential collaborative projects.
Khalid emphasized that the new initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy, as directed by the President and Prime Minister, to ensure transparent payment transfers and better facilitate beneficiaries. The smartphones will help bridge communication gaps, keep beneficiaries informed about their rights, and reduce fraud risks.
The BISP is committed to improving beneficiaries’ lives, not only through digital empowerment but also by providing market-driven skill training.
