In a tragic incident that unfolded on Monday, at least one Frontier Corps (FC) official was martyred, and nine others, including seven FC personnel, were injured in a blast targeting a security forces vehicle in Peshawar’s Warsak Road area.
Superintendent of Warsak Division, expressing grief over the incident, stated that the explosion appeared to be caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). However, the precise nature of the explosion will be confirmed after the initial report from the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU). An ongoing investigation is currently underway to determine the details of the attack.
Rescue 1122 officials confirmed that among the injured, three are civilians. Following the bomb blast, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department declared an emergency in all medical facilities in Peshawar. They have urged medical staff in all Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) hospitals to remain on duty and cancel any leaves.
The department’s statement read, “Immediate treatment facilities and the presence of medical staff should be ensured for the injured in all hospitals.” Emergency response teams swiftly cordoned off the area following the attack, and the injured were transported to nearby medical facilities.
Initially, the injured were taken to Prime Hospital, but they were later transferred to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) for further treatment. Muhammad Asim, a spokesperson for LRH, provided an update on the victims, stating, “The hospital is currently treating nine injured blast victims, including six FC personnel and three civilians.” He added that two FC personnel and one civilian are currently in critical condition.
LRH officials assured that all injured victims are receiving immediate medical aid, and medical teams are working diligently to provide the necessary care.
