Peshawar, Pakistan – October 17, 2024
A bomb exploded near a police patrol in Peshawar on Wednesday, causing panic and significant damage to the surrounding area. The explosion occurred in the city’s busy neighborhood of Khyber Bazaar, known for its commercial activity.
According to initial reports, a police vehicle was the primary target of the bomb, but fortunately, there were no immediate reports of casualties among the officers. Several civilians, however, were reportedly injured by the blast, and nearby shops sustained structural damage. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Local authorities have cordoned off the area as bomb disposal teams work to ensure no further explosives are present. While no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, police are investigating the possibility of militant involvement, as the region has seen sporadic violence in recent months.
This attack marks a disturbing escalation in violence in Peshawar, which has historically faced security challenges due to its proximity to areas affected by insurgency. Authorities are urging citizens to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities to the police.
