Sadiq Dilawar, brother of Special Judge Central Humayun Dilawar, secured protective bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday. The bail was granted following an arrest warrant issued by a judicial magistrate in Bannu.
On August 10, a warrant for Judge Humayun Dilawar’s arrest was issued by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)-led government. The judge had convicted PTI chairman Imran Khan last year, and was coincidentally presiding over the new Toshkhana case against Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi the same day.
The ACE sought arrest warrants for Judge Dilawar, along with his father, uncle, and brother, on charges under sections 409, 419, 420, 468, and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Sadiq Dilawar, represented by his counsel Imran Feroz, requested the IHC to grant protective bail to allow him to appear before the relevant court. The IHC accepted the plea, directing him to present himself before the court of competent jurisdiction.
