In a major step towards sustainable urban mobility, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially approved the introduction of an electric tram service in Islamabad. The project aims to modernize the city’s public transport infrastructure while significantly reducing carbon emissions.
According to CDA officials, the electric tram will initially operate along key routes connecting major sectors and landmarks of the capital. The initiative is part of the federal government’s broader vision for a green and smart Islamabad.
The electric tram system is expected to ease traffic congestion, lower pollution levels, and offer citizens a modern, efficient alternative to conventional transport. The project will be developed in collaboration with international partners and is set to begin construction later this year.
