The CEO of an Indian AI startup, Suchana Seth, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her four-year-old son. The incident unfolded when Seth was returning from the state of Goa to Karnataka in a taxi and was detained in the Chitradurga district. Police made the arrest after discovering the body of her son in her luggage.
Seth, who leads The Mindful AI Lab in Bengaluru, had checked into a hotel in Goa with her son on Saturday but was alone when she checked out on Monday night. Hotel cleaning staff found bloodstains in the room after her departure and alerted the police. Subsequently, the police contacted the taxi driver who transported Seth and asked him to take her to the nearest police station.
Upon opening Seth’s luggage at the police station, the lifeless body of her four-year-old son was discovered. Goa police brought Seth back to the state from Karnataka. At the moment, there is no information on whether she has legal representation, and attempts to reach her or her company for comments have been unsuccessful.
Seth’s husband, who is reportedly in Indonesia, has been informed and asked to return to India. A local court has remanded Suchana Seth to six days in police custody, according to news agency ANI. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are yet to determine the motive behind the alleged crime.
