ISLAMABAD / KABUL – 15 October 2025:
A ceasefire has been officially announced between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following days of heightened tensions and sporadic cross-border clashes that had raised regional concerns.
According to official sources, both governments reached the agreement after high-level talks mediated by regional partners, aimed at preventing further escalation and restoring stability along the Durand Line.
In a joint statement released on Tuesday, officials from Islamabad and Kabul confirmed that military operations along the border have been suspended, and communication channels between both armies have been reactivated to ensure compliance with the ceasefire.
Diplomatic observers have welcomed the development as a positive step toward de-escalation, emphasizing the need for sustained dialogue and mutual respect for territorial sovereignty.
The ceasefire is expected to pave the way for further discussions on border security, trade routes, and counterterrorism cooperation — long-standing issues that have shaped the complex relationship between the two neighboring countries.
