The prices of chicken meat have seen a sharp surge across Pakistan, with rates reaching as high as Rs. 880 per kilogram in certain regions. Consumers in major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, have expressed concern over this sudden increase, which they claim is straining household budgets.
Market analysts attribute the hike to a combination of factors, including rising feed costs, transportation expenses, and increased demand during the winter season. A shortage in poultry supply has also contributed to the price escalation.
Many vendors have reported dwindling supplies, further exacerbating the issue. “We’re facing difficulties sourcing poultry due to high feed prices and supply chain disruptions,” said a chicken retailer in Lahore.
The soaring prices have left consumers struggling to balance their grocery expenses, with some opting for alternative protein sources. Meanwhile, the government has yet to announce any measures to stabilize the poultry market.
