Islamabad: In a major boost for educational cooperation between Pakistan and China, the Chinese government has announced fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students to pursue Bachelor’s (BS), Master’s (MS), and Doctoral (PhD) programs at leading universities across China.
The scholarship program, launched under the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and supported by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, aims to promote academic exchange, cultural understanding, and long-term collaboration between the two countries.
According to official sources, the scholarships will cover full tuition fees, accommodation, health insurance, and a monthly stipend, enabling students to focus entirely on their studies without financial burden. Pakistani students from diverse academic backgrounds — including engineering, computer science, medicine, economics, and social sciences — will be eligible to apply.
Ambassador of China to Pakistan stated that the initiative reflects the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and supports Pakistan’s vision for human resource development under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the announcement, calling it a “remarkable opportunity for Pakistan’s youth” to gain world-class education and return home as skilled professionals.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan will coordinate with the Chinese authorities to facilitate applications and ensure merit-based selection. The scholarships will be offered for the 2025–2026 academic session, with applications expected to open soon.
Education experts have hailed the move as a transformative step in empowering Pakistan’s young generation and further cementing China-Pakistan ties in education and innovation.
