Chinese Premier Li Qiang will visit Pakistan from October 14 to 17 to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. During his visit, Premier Li is expected to engage in high-level talks with Pakistani officials, focusing on enhancing bilateral ties, trade cooperation, and regional security issues.
The SCO summit, scheduled to be held in Islamabad, will bring together leaders from member states to discuss pressing regional and global issues, including economic development, counterterrorism efforts, and regional connectivity. The meeting is also expected to reinforce China’s growing diplomatic influence in Central Asia and South Asia, while strengthening its strategic partnerships in the region.
Premier Li’s visit to Pakistan is seen as a significant step in reinforcing the long-standing friendship between the two countries, particularly in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has been a cornerstone of their economic collaboration.
The Premier will also attend several bilateral meetings, aiming to boost trade and infrastructure development under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which has been central to China’s foreign policy in the region.
The visit is expected to be marked by discussions on joint economic projects, security cooperation, and the promotion of regional stability through the SCO framework.
This summit comes at a critical time as the SCO seeks to address evolving geopolitical challenges in the region, and China’s role in shaping the dialogue is expected to be key.
