RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), has hailed the performance of Chinese weapon systems deployed by Pakistan during the military engagement with India in May.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, the chief military spokesperson stated that the latest Chinese platforms demonstrated “exceptionally well” during the four-day conflict, which was reportedly the most intense between the nuclear-armed neighbors in approximately 50 years.
“Of course lately, recent Chinese platforms, they’ve demonstrated exceptionally well,” Lt Gen Chaudhry was quoted as saying. He added that Pakistan’s military development strategy is to acquire the most effective, efficient, and economically viable platforms from both the East and the West, stressing, “We are open to all sorts of technology.”
The conflict saw the significant deployment of modern Chinese-made systems, including the J-10C fighter jets and the PL-15 air-to-air missiles, marking their first reported live combat use anywhere in the world. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had previously confirmed the Pakistan Air Force’s use of the J-10C jets in response to Indian attacks.
Lt Gen Chaudhry also reaffirmed Pakistan’s claims regarding Indian aircraft losses, stating that the tally of Indian aircraft shot down had been recently raised to seven, and that Pakistan suffered no loss of its own planes. He reiterated that Pakistan is not involved in an arms race with India, but is focused on deterrence and operational effectiveness.
The comments underscore the growing strategic partnership and military-industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China.
