The department projects that the moon’s birth is expected at 5:38 PM on June 6, with sunset following at 7:20 PM. With the moon likely to be visible for 72 minutes after sunset and requiring a minimum age of 19 hours for visibility, the calculation points to Eid falling on June 17 if the new moon is sighted as anticipated.
