In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering freelancers across Pakistan, the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has partnered with the government to roll out approximately 10,000 e-Rozgar centers. These centers are poised to serve as one-stop hubs, offering comprehensive assistance to online workers.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) disclosed that the e-Rozgar centers, already operational under government auspices, are equipped with state-of-the-art amenities tailored for freelancers. These include high-speed internet connectivity, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), dedicated training facilities, private cabins, meeting rooms, and exclusive office spaces for startups.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering freelance opportunities, the official emphasized the fulfillment of promises to existing and prospective freelancers. With an estimated 1.5 million freelancers benefiting from enhanced infrastructure and support, the initiative is poised to democratize access to independent work opportunities.
Moreover, the collaboration is anticipated to yield substantial economic dividends, with projections indicating a potential annual increase of $10 billion in IT exports. Leveraging public-private partnerships, the e-Rozgar centers are poised to augment the capacity and income of freelancers, thereby bolstering Pakistan’s digital economy.
The spokesperson underscored the pivotal role of the PSEB in providing technical assistance to freelancers utilizing these centers. Emphasizing the government’s broader vision to position Pakistan as a global technology hub, he reiterated the nation’s commitment to building a robust digital ecosystem.
“We have undertaken concerted efforts to establish a thriving digital landscape in Pakistan, leveraging every available avenue to position our nation as an international ‘Technology Destination’,” the official remarked, encapsulating the government’s ambitious agenda for technological advancement and economic prosperity.
