PESHAWAR – Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has announced a proposal to establish a state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan, with funding allocated from the KPK provincial budget.
Speaking at a press briefing, CM Gandapur emphasized the historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan, highlighting the humanitarian need for improved healthcare in the war-torn country. “We believe in regional solidarity and extending a helping hand where it’s most needed,” he stated.
The proposed hospital aims to provide advanced cancer treatment services to Afghan citizens, many of whom currently travel long distances to seek medical care in Pakistan. Gandapur assured that the hospital would follow the model of existing cancer care facilities in Pakistan, ensuring accessibility and affordability.
The announcement has sparked mixed reactions domestically, with supporters praising the gesture of goodwill and critics questioning the use of provincial funds for a foreign project while local healthcare challenges persist.
Further details regarding budget allocation, construction timeline, and coordination with Afghan authorities are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
