Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated Pakistan’s first fully electric bus service in Lahore. The service will initially operate 27 buses on a 21-kilometer route from the Railway Station to Green Town, accommodating around 17,000 passengers daily.
Each bus is equipped with modern features, including Wi-Fi, USB ports, GPS tracking, and accessibility options for differently-abled passengers. The buses can travel up to 250 km on a single charge, with nine dedicated charging stations established at the Green Town depot.
The official launch is set for mid-February, coinciding with the completion of 42 new bus shelters. The service will offer digital payment options and a mobile app for real-time tracking. This initiative aims to promote eco-friendly public transport in Lahore.
