Lahore, March 26: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has suspended the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, following a surprise visit to the facility. The decision came after the CM found severe administrative shortcomings and poor patient care during her inspection.
During the unannounced visit, Maryam Nawaz interacted with patients and their attendants, who complained about a lack of medicines, unhygienic conditions, and delays in treatment. She also expressed displeasure over the absence of senior doctors and mismanagement in the hospital’s operations.
Taking immediate action, the CM ordered the suspension of the MS and directed the health department to submit a comprehensive report on the hospital’s performance. She emphasized that negligence in public healthcare services would not be tolerated and vowed to improve the province’s hospitals.
This marks another step in Maryam Nawaz’s ongoing efforts to reform the healthcare sector in Punjab. The provincial government has already announced plans to upgrade medical facilities and ensure better service delivery across hospitals.
