Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has called upon students to embrace self-responsibility and prioritize their duties instead of engaging in baseless criticism, state-run Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.
During his visit to Punjab’s Bahawalpur, Gen Munir inaugurated the CMH Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) and engaged with students from various universities. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he highlighted the importance of academic excellence, urging students to equip themselves with the skills necessary for national development.
“The youth are the future of Pakistan, and it is imperative that they focus on constructive efforts rather than getting swayed by misleading narratives,” Gen Munir emphasized. He also reiterated the army’s commitment to nurturing young talent and supporting initiatives that empower the nation’s youth.
Warning Against Social Media Anarchy
The army chief also warned against the misuse of social media, stating that online platforms are being exploited to spread false narratives and create unrest. In recent months, the military has taken a firm stance against online campaigns targeting the armed forces.
Gen Munir stressed the importance of upholding national values and unity, urging students to remember the sacrifices of their ancestors and stay steadfast in their beliefs. “As long as great mothers continue to sacrifice their children for Pakistan and the youth stand united with the armed forces, nobody can harm the country,” he asserted.
Inauguration of Key Initiatives
During his Bahawalpur visit, the COAS also inaugurated Innovista Cholistan and the Integrated Combat Simulator Arena, which the ISPR described as groundbreaking initiatives in medical education, IT, and combat training. Additionally, he visited the Bahawalpur Cantonment, where he addressed officers and troops, emphasizing the need for rigorous training to counter modern warfare challenges.
Gen Munir’s statements come amid the military’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities affecting national security and economic stability. The army has consistently expressed its resolve to counter organized elements that attempt to undermine state actions through misinformation campaigns.
This visit follows a similar engagement last month in Rawalpindi, where the COAS emphasized the significance of “Pakistaniat” and national solidarity.
