Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir held a key meeting with Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, on Friday, where both leaders expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening military relations between their countries, according to state-owned Radio Pakistan.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is currently in Islamabad for a three-day official visit aimed at revitalizing the strategic partnership between Malaysia and Pakistan. During the meeting, the Malaysian premier stressed the importance of enhancing military cooperation, highlighting the close ties between the two nations.
PM Ibrahim commended the Pakistan Army’s significant role in promoting regional peace and stability. He praised their professionalism and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, noting that their contributions were crucial for maintaining security in the region.
As part of the discussions, Prime Minister Ibrahim extended an invitation to General Munir to visit Malaysia, which the COAS warmly accepted. General Munir expressed his gratitude for the invitation and praised the successful visit of the Malaysian premier, emphasizing that it would further enhance the strong, long-standing relationship between the two countries and their armed forces.
Earlier in his visit, PM Ibrahim met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where both leaders pledged to increase cooperation, discussing a range of bilateral, regional, and international issues.
