The northern and northwestern regions of the country are once again shivering under a cold wave following a bout of rain and snowfall early on Wednesday.
Rainfall and Snowfall Patterns
- Peshawar and Mansehra: Heavy rainfall was reported, breaking the dry spell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- Kaghan Valley: Witnessed heavy snowfall, while Balakot experienced a hailstorm, significantly dropping temperatures.
- Temperature Forecast: Temperatures could plummet to as low as 13 degrees Celsius in Gilgit-Baltistan, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expecting around 20 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall Distribution
- Chitral, Kalam, Upper Dir: Recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours.
- Other Areas: Hunza and Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir also saw substantial rainfall.
Risk of Landslides
- Leepa Valley, Neelum Valley, Jhelum Valley: These areas are at heightened risk of landslides due to increased surface runoff from rain and snow.
The Meteorological Office advises residents and travelers in these regions to exercise caution and stay updated with weather advisories to ensure safety amidst these changing weather conditions.
