TEHRAN — In a sign of renewed momentum in its space program, Iran has announced plans to launch three domestically produced satellites into orbit in the coming weeks, officials said on Wednesday.
The satellites, built by Iranian scientists and engineers, are part of Tehran’s push to expand its technological capabilities and demonstrate progress in indigenous aerospace development. State media described the upcoming launch as a “major step toward self-reliance in space technology.”
According to Iran’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, the satellites will serve different purposes, including communication, imaging, and scientific research. The launch is expected to take place from the Imam Khomeini Space Center using an Iranian-made rocket.
This marks Iran’s most ambitious space mission in recent years, following a series of earlier test launches. International observers are closely watching the development, as some Western countries have previously expressed concern that Iran’s space technology could have military applications.
