Former footballer David Beckham recently celebrated a significant career milestone by winning an Emmy award for his Netflix docuseries Beckham: What Makes David Run. The documentary, which explores his life and career, was nominated in five categories at the 2023 Creative Arts Emmys.
The docuseries triumphed in the “Documentary or Nonfiction Series” category at the prestigious event held in Los Angeles on Saturday. Beckham, visibly thrilled by the win, took to Instagram on September 10 to share his excitement. In one post, he posed proudly with his Emmy award, grinning in a casual white t-shirt and blue chinos. “Safely back in Office. Still can’t believe we won an EMMY,” he wrote in the caption.
He also posted a story featuring the golden trophy displayed next to cherished family photos of his wife Victoria and their children, captioning it, “We did it.”
The Emmy was accepted by producer Fisher Stevens, who video-called Beckham during the celebration to share the good news. In a clip posted to the Emmys’ official Instagram account, Stevens can be seen surrounded by a cheering crowd as Beckham, overjoyed, responded to the win, calling it “unbelievable.”
This marks another remarkable chapter in Beckham’s post-football career, with his foray into entertainment receiving critical acclaim.
