Celebrated American filmmaker David Fincher is reportedly set to direct an English-language adaptation of the blockbuster Korean drama Squid Game. According to Deadline, Fincher, known for Gone Girl and Fight Club, has been dedicated to developing this action-thriller spin-off for several months and plans to focus fully on the project in 2025.
The adaptation will bring in Utopia writer Dennis Kelly to handle the script. Kelly, acclaimed for his work on The Third Day and Matilda The Musical, is expected to bring his unique storytelling style to this reimagined version of Squid Game.
Interestingly, Fincher’s adaptation will reportedly tie in with his 1997 thriller The Game, a film about a businessman who finds himself ensnared in a high-stakes, life-threatening game. This thematic connection hints at a fresh and compelling twist for Squid Game fans.
Meanwhile, Squid Game season two will be released on Netflix on December 26, and a teaser for the season is already building excitement among fans. The series has also been renewed for a third and final season, further cementing its legacy as a global sensation.
