People in south-eastern Australia witnessed flashes of light in the sky, assuming it might be a meteor. However, the Australian Space Agency revealed it was probably remnants of a Russian Soyuz-2 rocket re-entering Earth’s atmosphere. The rocket was launched from Russia’s Plesetsk Cosmodrome earlier that evening and safely landed in the ocean off Tasmania’s coast. With increasing space junk, experts are concerned about potential risks to satellites, humans, and the environment.
