The Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation after receiving a death threat targeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The threat, sent via a WhatsApp helpline, warned that Adityanath would be killed “like Baba Siddique” if he did not resign within ten days.
This chilling message follows the recent assassination of former minister Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in Bandra. The timing of this threat adds to a tense atmosphere in Mumbai, which has seen a spate of high-profile death threats in recent weeks, including those against Bollywood star Salman Khan.
The anonymous threat, sent from an untraceable number, explicitly threatened Adityanath, stating he would suffer the same fate as Siddique if he failed to step down. Mumbai Police are actively working to trace the source of the message and assess its credibility.
This latest incident reflects a growing trend of politically and celebrity-targeted threats in the region. Recently, Salman Khan has been the subject of multiple threats, particularly after an April shooting incident outside his residence. Several individuals linked to these threats have been apprehended, including suspects from Jamshedpur and Noida.
Another recent message named Zeeshan Siddique, MLA and son of the murdered former minister, suggesting the risk of further violence and underscoring the nexus between political rivalries and criminal activity. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, reportedly responsible for Baba Siddique’s killing near his son’s office on October 12, has previously threatened Salman Khan, allegedly due to his involvement in a past blackbuck hunting case.
Given these developments, authorities have heightened security around Salman Khan and continue to investigate these threats, as Mumbai faces increasing concern over the safety of prominent public figures.
