Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has landed in hot water with Indian film authorities after allegedly casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. The move, which has reignited the long-standing debate over cross-border artistic collaborations, has sparked mixed reactions across the entertainment industry and on social media.
The Film Federation of India (FFI) reportedly raised concerns about the “unauthorized involvement” of talent from a country with whom formal creative collaboration is politically sensitive. Sources claim that no official clearance was sought before onboarding Aamir, which could lead to potential sanctions against the film.
“While we appreciate creative freedom, there are protocols and national considerations that must be respected,” said an FFI spokesperson under anonymity. “The casting of a Pakistani actress in a major Indian production without due process cannot be ignored.”
Fans, however, are divided. Some hail the move as a bold step towards cultural diplomacy, while others accuse Dosanjh of disregarding national sentiment.
Hania Aamir, known for her bubbly screen presence and immense popularity in Pakistan, has yet to comment on the controversy. Meanwhile, Dosanjh’s team insists that “Sardaar Ji 3 aims to promote unity and break boundaries through art,” hinting that the casting decision was both intentional and symbolic.
With the film slated for release later this year, all eyes are now on how the controversy unfolds — and whether Dosanjh will stand firm or be forced to recast.
